Yeah that would definitely match my experience as well. If you want to get a new factory one Amayama sourced me one recently, just make sure you’re sitting down when you have a look at the price haha. They aren’t cheap like the good old days

Hi All from the Sunshine Coast QLD! Subaru impreza wrx STi Type R 5
Hi guys My Subaru Impreza WRX STi Type R version 5. My choice was to go 100% OEM plus optional extra STI Parts with it. Been collecting parts for a while now to build my dream Sti. 80% there 😅

Beautiful car. That colour has really grown on me since it first came out. Good luck collecting all the bits you need, I know from experience it’s not easy!
My Version VI STi
G’day all, just sharing my version 6 sti. Number 070/400 Australian delivered cars. The car is fairly modified and there will be more to come, I’ve got an idea of exactly how I want the car to be and I’m slowly working my way through it. Highlights are EJ207 short block with reconditioned heads and Kelford 199B cams and Kelford valve springs and retainers, AVO 400s turbo, Link plug in ecu with a heap of sensors and a flex fuel tune. 266kw at the wheels on e85 and it is hilariously fun. It has basically the entire white line catalogue in it as far as suspension goes, and brembos with project mu pads front and rear. I’ve found a receipt from a previous owner that says ‘gearbox build’ but no further details. I’m assuming it’s nothing amazing so will get a 6 speed pretty soon. Anyway hoping to get out and do some more cruising in it so if anything gets organised give me a shout.

GC8 life. My idle motor has been on the way out for quite some time, but these genuine parts are not easy to come by anymore. I managed to find one in Japan and then waited around 2 months to get here! I took it down to pulse racing to redo the tuning in the idle and on/off throttle areas now that the new part is installed. It drives much better now and I am looking forward to hopefully putting some km’s on it.

@Matthew Fraser I hope one day Subaru run a heritage program like Nissan have for their classics. Sure it costs a fortune but these cars are worth it I reckon
Camshafts
Hi all! Who in here is running aftermarket cams, what are you running, and are you happy with your choice? Thanks in advance ☺️

G’day mate, I’m running a set of Kelford 199b cams in my gc8 sti. They are the most mild aftermarket cams you can get from Kelford at 256/264 duration and 9.55/9.60mm lift. The duration isn’t much different to stock sti cams but the extra lift really seems to allow the engine to breathe so much better in the mid to top end. On the street the car drives pretty much like factory off boost and then really comes on hard. Does use about 10-20% more fuel so worth noting if it’s a daily. With all that said I would say, they are great but definitely not worth doing just for the sake of it, especially for an sti or a daily driven car. If your engine is out getting rebuilt or something then I definitely would do cams, springs and retainers at the same time. Hope that helps

I reckon you’ll be very happy with them. I meant to ask, what turbo are you running on your set up? Very interested to see your results
