Skool on Thanksgiving or not?
Happy Thanksgiving! Anyone sitting around with their computer, eating snacks, and with football in the background? I am checking out Skool, and connecting with people around the world. I am reminded that this holiday in the US is not everywhere in the world. Others are working as usual. It's important to remember that our communities and audiences may have diverse backgrounds and celebrate unique holidays. This is an opportunity for us to connect and learn about each other! What are you doing today?

Course Progress Notification
I'm struggling to keep track, and understand what parts of my course is working and what is not. I would be so grateful if Skool could develop a way that unlocks the next page of a course ONLY when the present page has been checked ✅ as done/watched. This little feature will really help the first issue that I have - people may watch part or all of my course but not check it off, so I have no way of knowing. I would love to get notifications based on progress and especially completion of chapters or whole courses. This would be massive in being able to bring rewards, incentives, bonuses etc. At the moment Level unlocks are great, but having an unlock tied directly to work completed would be wonderful. Having these notifications would also allow me to be very good at giving Timely Specific Feedback which is the lifeblood of how honour works within communities. The faster I can personally reach out and congratulate, validate and celebrate a member of the community the better my job as a host will be.

This would be great!
How to reduce new member confusion/break in period?
When new members join communities, they have to learn the lay of the land, click around, find the things you want them to find. How have you guys reduced the friction for new members and helped them get aquainted quickly with where and how to start?

Create conversation before they even join. Once they join, offer a 15 min video meet and greet to get to know them better. Show them you are real and authentic. Create the vibe you want from your initial interactions.

@Ryan Nork I send a calendly link to find a time. And I keep the conversation really simple and light. I always start off with "This is just a chance for us to get to know each other." They've always been nice. I work to be very respectful of their time, because I know we are all busy people.
Promotion
Can we promote our free community here?

Not directly. You promote by being an active member and contributing to conversations. Get people interested in you, and they will look at your profile. People also want to trust those who are consistently active and on Skool as a whole. I'd be me more willing to join a community owner who has consistently been on Skool for 60+ days than an owner who has been spotty. There are MANY other ways to promote yourself without directly sharing your link. There are also other communities that are more open to sharing communities and allow self-promotion.

Are you new to Skool or entrepreneurship?!
Or maybe doing community based biz is completely foreign to you based on the past biz experience you have had??? If you aren’t new here, drop your number one tip 👇🏻 If you are new, are you wondering what methods you should use to help you get up to speed and running on this new adventure?! Everything comes down to time or money, which is it you want to invest into your future? If you have time but not excess money, that may mean taking time to learn, the classroom here is loaded with skool set up basics, the search function brings up past posts from others with a wealth of knowledge, and so many beautiful humans here in this space are ready to help once you post if you still have questions! If you have money but not much time, then you are looking at hiring peeps to do those things you don’t love doing, or finding a mentor/coach that will help you with accountability and keep you on track. One of the best ways imo is to find a mentor… while it may seem like someone goes from zero to hero overnight, that rarely is the case. Oftentimes, there are years behind that of trial and error, launched and failed businesses, and loads of inner work they went through to be able to hold what you now saw them accomplish. Want to be able to side step more of that sort of ish? Find yourself someone that has been through the wringer and can help you along your own way… not to tell you that you have to do it exactly how they did, but someone that can help you do things along your own path. “But, I don’t have money for coaching.” Then you find some free spaces to get started with (not a ton cause you might end up in a mindfuckery tornado of conflicting opinions and methods) or find someone that’s a few steps ahead of you and has more bandwidth for personal attention, or find a group coaching space that may fall within your budget and get to work! 👇🏻 What’s worked for you the best?!

@Kai Saunders You can. For example, you have a special skill that helps solve a problem. You create a community that solves that problem. Such as, you know to run Google ads really well. You create a community that has content about Google ads. Discussions, tips, a course, worksheets, metrics etc. Another example is say you are good at help become overcome anxiety. Then you create a community with content to overcome anxiety. Once you create the basic community then you need to market and get others who have that problem that people need help solving. To make money, you then create content that as price tag (such as course or 1 on 1 coaching)
