@Lindsay Hack thanks for your comment. I appreciate what you said about the way most societies view external accomplishments as the measure of success. Another of my favorite thought leaders is Anthony De Mello, a Jesuit (now deceased) from India who brought Eastern mysticism to Christianity (and was nearly declared a heretic for doing so by Pope Benedict). De Mello said that "you're a success in life when you wake up" to who you truly are, which is the infinite, divine love of God that is the source of all life and that enables each of us, and everything in Creation, to be (I think he said it much better than that). Call it your Soul, Atman, Consciousness, your True Self - the label doesn't matter. What matters is that you realize that this is the essence of Who You Are, which is beyond the physical form one happens to have. To (finally) answer your question, the first step is to get the individual to see this for themselves, principally because every person's view of their Authentic True Self is different, so they need to articulate it for themselves, as best they can. From there, we look at how they are living and where they are in alignment or out of alignment. Then it's about taking the steps - and being accountable for taking those steps - to move in a direction that enables them to answer "Yes!" to The 3 Life Questions. Hope that wasn't more than you bargained for!! I look forward to getting to know you better in this group. Cheers!
