@Cosmin Gabriel - this isnt marketing with seemingly tangible metrics, like impressions and clicks, and it isnt sales with revenue or number of leads generated; small business operations is much more nuanced and not left up to google analytics, crms, or other platforms to tell us how we are doing... it also depends on the type of business- are you making widgets or providing a service? Small business operations focuses primarily on two large umbrellas, profitability and customer satisfaction, where many variables and additional kpis will live under those and other categories- efficiency and quality are primary to ops in order to deliver on Product Promises in order to satisfy customers (as well as employees) and grow sustainably but here are SOME of the most common ways to measure operational success- - Cycle time - amount of time it takes to complete a task measured against benchmarks... time is money - Cost & margins - how much money a process generates or consumes; measure operating expense & profit - Process alignment - can we deliver on PRODUCT PROMISES- measuring time, quality, customer expectations (plus third party compliance when applicable) - Productivity - calculated by dividing the value of all inputs by total sales - QC depends on type of product/service delivered- measure against set standards; error rate, defect rate... - Customer satisfaction - retention rates, satisfaction scores, reviews... Please let me know if I passed the test Cosmin😎

thanks @Cosmin Gabriel 🤣 yes very true- a lot of times they are simpler than I outlined when it comes to SMBs as they do not always have all of the same tools and resources that enterprise folks might- but you are still trying to measure those things one way or another and to keep it simple... 1) operating profit (the P&L at large) is always a key part of measurement 2) quality control is the other top priority, some simple ways to measure are KPIs that include things like "on time delivery", "# of returns" and often times there are cultural metrics (which feed the above) that are more like simple questions such as "did we share and celebrate wins"
