Q & A with Erin Brophey October 16th 2024
Many thanks for this inspiring conversation. Special mention goes to @Natalie Fulwider for her excellent questions that got us started off in the right direction. Thank you to @Jill Cathey for sharing her experiences. Special mention to @Rhonda Smith for explaining her neuro-diversity and unpacking how it applies to her oboe experience.

oboe reed
I sometimes play my oboe reeds by itself for my grandkids. They think it is the funniest thing they have ever heard. Here is my granddaughter's imitation of it. It makes me laugh every time she does it.

@Carol Lowne Beautiful playing. I have the Hiniker bocals also to try. I trying 3's instead of 2 which I seem to play more in tune (versus being sharp)...... still trying them. I am waiting for a couple of bocals that needed recorking to come back to compare. I really like the Loree Etoile but I still seem to have issues playing sharp and I know you are not suppose to pull out the bocal for intonation. I didn't realize you had that many... I have the original Laubin ones... Thanks for sharing.

Us... so we are preparing for the hurricane and my dad is having some problems.
Masterclass Sept 11
It was great to see so many friends again. I really missed our Oboe Path Community. As I starting up playing again, it is great to be reminded about drones and other reed warm-ups. I have been doing a lot of reed flexibility warm-ups to help with intonation and it is working. There are certain notes if I get in tune make all of the notes around it in-tune,. I have been going up and down and playing songs on the reed. Now I need to try without holding the reed in my hand. Wednesday is a great day for me to attend a masterclass so I hope it stays on Wednesdays. Hope to be better by next week so I can participate more. Thanks so much for doing this, Dianne
