One of my big triggers is at meal times, particularly dinner time when I’m drained at the end of the day and feel like I am going off fumes, is when I call everyone to the table and either no one responds quickly, or they come and when they see that dinner is not completely laid out and everything is ready to sit down and enjoy, they scatter again or they sit down and start demanding things. I have made a visual sign of things that they can help me with to set the table and get things ready before hand. Then I’ve tried using the “I’m going to…“ Trick, by saying I’m going to serve dinner in five minutes if anyone wants to help by getting drinks, silverware, napkins, bibs, that would be great”. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t most often it leaves gets people moving in my direction. I have to remind myself. I’m not doing it to be passive aggressive. I’m doing it to state what I can and can’t control and focus on that. If I feel like I’m repeating myself and no one‘s listening. I try to turn it into a “This is what I’m going to do next” declaration - so I don’t get angry because it’s a great reminder that the only one I can control is myself and I want to be proud of myself by the end of the day
The truth
Megan Schiffner 2m ago • The Goal So I’m looking in seeing that the last time I was able to work on the brave mamas group was two weeks ago. In between that and how worn out, overwhelmed, overstimulated, and guilty I feel for both not working here in this group, as well as not getting the things I wanted to todayin my small in-home daycare, taking care of five kids, I am just about ready to burst into tears and cry for a long while. So, time for living in the truth, honesty and reality. One of the few organized things that I did get a chance to do (ever have one of those days?) was read “you are mine” by Max Lucado to the kids, only one of which was really listening. Sob. In it, the main character, Punchinello buys into the lie that you’re not a good person if you don’t have a lot of stuff or do what everyone around you is doing. It’s hard to not be defensive thinking about it, but I know how true that is and that’s why I’m so burnt out feeling today. i’ve set the expectation for myself and the program I wanna have in my small, five child daycare so high that there’s just no way that I can actually accomplish it, especially within the first year of my doing this and with no help. I get to the end of the workday and immediately have to start tidying or cleaning and then making dinner from my family, I do get my husband’s help, but sometimes it just feels like such a drop in the bucket compared to all the things I had in my mind to do and the things that need to be done. I still wanna be a good mom inside of daycare and outside of it to my own three kids. So, I think something, I’m gonna have to be OK just doing what I can do from day-to-day and possibly doing one new thing for a while until it becomes part of our routine and then adding a new one, rather than trying to add them all at once. and I’m doing a great job, even if I’m not doing everything I want to. I don’t have any parents breathing down my neck dissatisfied with my program, especially since it is a small in-home family daycare, and the age range is so broad.

I need your opinion:
Which would you grab first? "Fight Like You Mean It" - Video and Workbook: A step by step guide to turn conflict with ANYONE into an invitation for connection OR "Mama Needs A Timeout" - Video and Workbook: A step by step guide to STOP the CYCLE of reactivity - set new limits and uproot lies - instead of just taking a break to "calm down." ID LOVE YOUR VOTE! THANK YOU!

Both! The first for my hubby and the second for my kids. But both for me. If I had to say one, I’d say first the “mama needs a timeout”

I think I’m slowly getting the hang of this. Well, how to use the platform anyway.
Your first THREE CLASSES are posted in your Classroom!
Take your time working through the modules beginning with "1. Truth." This work takes TIME. Layering this work one module at a time is very important, because they STACK on each other. It's about to get fruitful!

The “this takes time” part is haaaarrrd since I’m a doer! lol. I like to check things off! But the heart work is the whole reason I’m here, so, ahem…patience. Also the time thing is hard because I feel I have so little free time to spare, as well as the headspace to watch, think and get my dodo-bird-mama-brain straight about who I am anymore, let alone good, deep introspection. The good news is - this is what I came for. I’m swapping social media for this in my spare time. Here’s asking God for the self-control to do so.
