Welcome! Introduce Yourself
What is up everyone? I am absolutely STOKED to be apart of your eFoil journey and be apart of your progressions. The goal with this community is to help eFoilers learn how to ride safely in order to be come a smoother and faster rider. As the community levels up, so does the sport of eFoiling. Its up to us to push the manufactures to innovate and push the limits of what we think is possible. Step 1: Introduce yourself in THIS thread below! What are your goals? Where's your local spot? What's your eFoil setup? If you could ride anywhere in the world where would it be? **Please DO NOT make a new post, (rather continue this thread) as those clog up the feed (they will be removed). Step 2: Check out the Classroom ------------- Best practices in this community: 1) Level up by posting insights and thoughtful comments 🚀 2) Help others level up by liking 👍🏽 good posts and comments 3) If you need help, just ask the community 💪🏽 Group Rules: 1) No Self Promotion 2) No Selling in the DM's 3) No Spamming the Community Feed 4) No Brand Bashing or Name Calling. @Justin Chait it doesn’t take any longer to charge on a solar array. My arrays are quite large (-36 panels) with +15Kv of batteries of their own storage. I have had the charge generator kick on if the weather has been inclement for several days, and I try to charge during daylight hours. No big deal with a little forethought.

I think the techniques translate extremely well. The whole weight, unweight thing is not talked about in the various groups, but I can lay the foil's over and carve ridiculously hard using good old alpine technique as a baseline. I am always turning on my foils and really feel a similar sort of thing to bottomless blower in the backcountry. I have been asked by several other riders why I turn so much, and I just have to respond it feels right. I get kinda board going straight-line on foil unless pushing the upper end of the speed curve. My preferences in gear seem to be rather different from surfers and skateboarders as the "looser" wings and stabs really do not feel right to me. EG, I am almost exclusively on Race or Flyer 800 wings and rarely take my Race Stab off any more. I have really given the Flow series wings and stab repeated attempts and they always feel like dull edges on boilerplate to me. Yes, they can turn super fast in a (squishy) sort of way, but I prefer a more "locked in" feel. Too used to edges and sidecut turning devices I guess. I do ride goofy and have been working on switching with varying degrees of success usually resulting in rather spectacular crashes. So, glad there is another freerider in the bunch and I look forward to seeing if you have similar impressions.

More specifically; Speed and glorious crashes do not phase me. Eating a race wing and stab at 30mph scares the heck out of me.

@Jacob Ranney on a Pro with Race Wing and Stab. On “Zen” days I put the flyer on but really like the race stab. Straight line stuff doesn’t worry me at all, hammer down! REALLY laying it over with wing breaking the surface is where I have had things get dicey. When you have the full on thigh burn, hard turn engage and the wing cavitates or you bury a rail or simply lose your balance; the vectors are forcing you in the direction of an unfortunate encounter. Art of falling had always been on of my specialties, especially in GS and Super-G racing. Those speeds make an efoil seem “cute.” But, you lay it down at +50 mph in a super g, you are not being thrust in the direction of a large carbon katana. 😆
