Hello friends, I started in this business last month, attempting to sell FE (Friday-Sunday only). I say attempting because I have yet to sell a policy, and I hope you don’t bash me, as it takes courage to say the truth. I take full responsibility for my failure thus far. I know, Dave Duford says that the number one indicator of a successful agent is one sale during week one. So, in essence, I am working against the odds at this point. In my defense, I was initially using aged leads but have recently switched over to exclusive Facebook leads. The difference, in terms of prospects remembering doing something to justify my intrusion, is day and night; the leads I call now actually recall clicking on a link to request info. I do have to do a lot of door knocking because close to 50% of prospects don’t even pick up the phone. About 25% of the ones I am able to contact think that this is all about some free government program and they loose all interest when I inform them otherwise. I feel like my main problem is this unjustified fear that you would probably be familiar with of when you are standing in front of a prospect (when door knocking). It seems like by the time I’m able to explain to the prospect why the heck I’m there at their door, the prospect takes control of the conversation and ends the interaction in a friendly or a not so friendly way, giving me no opportunity to ask whether “we should come inside or just sit out here on the porch”. I know it would be difficult for you to give any advise without witnessing how I interact with the prospect, but any ideas on how I can possibly improve are certainly welcome. Also, for in-home presentation, do you use any aids (e.g. checklists, PowerPoint, etc.) or are you able to execute the presentation solely from your head while looking at your prospect? Stan
