Are the scammers evolving?
so there’s been a round of marketers messaging me on Instagram. Nothing out of the ordinary for independent artists, right? This guy has been messaging me and at first they started out as text base messages then he just straight up started sending voice notes. He sent me this breakdown and is always the first thing that sets off a red flag. Other than being someone messaging me on Instagram is the fact that for $100 I can get in the ballpark of 10,000 streams. The pricing scales upward as you would expect. My question to the community is, are scammers evolving by sending voice notes because I low-key feel like either it’s just a more intimate way of trying to finesse, that or someone’s using AI to change the voice to sound like a white guy. Anyone else encounter tactics like this recently?

They truly are, and people get caught up thinking they are legit (since they left me a voice message...). just ignore'em!
Streaming music has now become the same as Stock Photos
I used to run a photo studio in the early 2000s, and looking back the same thing that happened when the digital SLR cameras replaced the film economy, has happened as digital audio replaced most of the physical music products. Our smart phones are pretty much technologically advanced to replace both the audio and visual capabilities of 95% or more of the ways we get to the finished products. So if history serves us any reminders, its that a noticable difference in quality and uniqueness of composition still remains King/Queen when it come to the interest of the users. Similar to stock photos, which then expanded to vector images and high res videos, the music needs to accompany another product with higher monetary value to be sold. It could be your product or somebody else's. Instead of focussing on getting a bunch of streams, see if your local businesses need music in their Ads (aka IG/TikTok posts) and sell it to them (non-exclusive sync license fee) at a discount. If you "nice nice" and can bang out an original track, upcharge it. If its good enough you get paid for someone to run your "music Ad" for you. Holla at your barbers, our Nubian princesses making copper jewelry, shorty down the block braiding hair, etc. Even if you make $20 you might of gotten paid to make someone a new fan. TikTok in-app linking to Spotify
Hello everybody. TikTok has done several test regarding linking users to Spotify (or other streaming platforms) when using music in the app. TikTok's test phase is over, the feature will be launched in USA and United Kingdom. And more territories will follow. What is it? It basically comes down to TikTok users being able to save a track to a Spotify playlist or library. This creates a unique and valuable link between the social media platform and a streaming service. How does it work? An 'Add Song' button is placed besides track names in TikTok's 'For You' feed. Tapping the button enables users to save the track to a default playlist (Liked Songs on Spotify and TikTok Songs on Amazon) or any other playlist of choice. YouTube is not (yet) part of the deal and Apple will be added in the coming months and Amazon will follow. Tell me your thoughts on this one?
