The Power of Focus
"Hey, what are you doing?" Alex and Leila Hormozi were staring at me across the table, eyebrows raised in disbelief. We were out to lunch, but the day before, I had launched my "side business"—a small venture I'd been building on the side, inspired by the idea that everyone "should have seven streams of income." They were my bosses, and I was their only in-person employee. When they called to meet up, I was almost certain they were going to fire me. Yet, as we chatted over small talk, I couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to this lunch than just a casual conversation. Eventually, we got into the topic of my new business. I explained why I’d done it, expecting a mix of understanding and maybe even a little support. But then Alex looked me in the eye and asked one question that made me pause: "What if you gave 100% to just working for us? How much farther do you think you could go?" In that moment, I realized how distracted I'd become. I’d been so wrapped up in social media’s constant push for "multiple income streams" and "hedging your bets" that I’d overlooked the value of focusing fully on one thing. It wasn’t just about spreading myself thin—it was about missing the depth of mastery, the benefits of true commitment. I left that lunch humbled, and with a fresh perspective: maybe the key to success wasn’t a divided effort, but instead, going all-in where it mattered most. Here's the lesson... If you’re tired of feeling stretched thin, chasing “multiple streams” without seeing true progress, it might be time to go all in. Imagine the power of removing the distractions, of putting everything into that one thing that could change your life. The truth is, spreading yourself across too many directions might just be slowing you down from reaching the success you’re capable of. So here’s my challenge to you: Let go of the “side hustles” that drain your focus, then double down on what truly matters. Commit to mastering one path, one goal, one vision. You’ll be surprised how far you can go when you give it everything.
