Lessons from History: What The Printing Press can tell us about the Future Impact of AI
I have been talking about the parallels of future AI with history in many conversations. Last week I decided to jot down my thoughts in a series of articles. Here is the first one. The Printing Press was invented in Germany so it's indeed a good one to start with. https://medium.com/write-a-catalyst/embracing-a-future-with-ai-and-lessons-from-history-the-printing-press-9d0e163f0105

Using AI to do some Blog Writing
One of these days, I wanted to write about something whimsical but based on facts. I thought maybe I could let AI do the writing for me as an experiment. Here is the post. https://medium.com/@vvsvish/bears-vs-teddy-bears-a-fuzzy-comparison-75a0d215d028 In this post, I have also described my process and the prompts used at the end. I hope you have fun reading and maybe even find something useful for your thought process.

Testing Large Language models for facts
A couple of months ago I ran a few tests against various large language models to check some facts. Interesting results - read on to learn and have a few laughs. https://medium.com/@vvsvish/who-is-the-captain-of-the-german-national-football-team-58f4160e3ab2

@Angelika Krupa Thank you for that question. At the moment I am exploring how I can enable usage of LLMs for on-premise customers and / or in a cost effective and serverless way (if possible)

@Angelika Krupa Actually I am focussing on the Engineering aspects behind using LLMs in a cost-effective way. There are too many people out there building great Open Source LLMs. For well known LLMs (like Open AI) good plans exist to build products. However, if one has to run something with very large volumes of data, then very quickly Open AI et all become expensive. I am trying to figure out if there are alternatives by using Open Source LLMs.
How to run an Open Source LLM locally on an Old Mac
If you have an old working Mac, here are the steps to run some Large Language Models on it locally in offline mode. https://medium.com/@vvsvish/running-llms-on-an-old-mac-bcba4c06351d Read on for some interesting facts about Cologne produced by an LLM.

@Angelika Krupa My mac is even older (v2012), so I am pretty confident that this trick will also work for later versions. The only caveat is that you need a fair amount of RAM (8 GB or more) and storage space (suggested free space - at least 20 GB)
