๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ I built an AI-powered Meditation app for my client and here are the things I learnt
About a month ago, I sent a cold DM to a person on LinkedIn. Just after the first call he was interested in getting his app developed by me and we later became good friends. I didn't expect that to happen. So, my first lesson in this journey is to reach out to more people, you never know who might benefit from your services. And it doesn't take a long time. Your next client might be just a DM away from you.
Now, you might wonder, why use AI in a meditation app. You don't need to apply AI to everything. That's right. I've been a long-time user of the Headspace app. The content there has remained the same for years. It didn't evolve. What if there were new meditation sessions based on my emotional state, every day? AI can do that. AI can generate text, it can generate speech. So, it's possible with AI. So my next lesson is - AI can be applied to many areas that we've not thought of before. It's always a good idea to ask ourselves "Can AI do this better?" before building a solution.
Building an AI app will become more complex in the days to come. Let me explain. Gone are the days of the ChatGPT wrappers. Anyone can build an AI app now. With IDEs like Cursor, you can build one even without knowing how to code. So building an AI app will require more layers of solutions and infrastructure packed together in the future. Your AI app will only add value if it can solve real, complex business problems. So when I was developing Klai.me, the meditation app I am talking about, I had to find an answer to "How is my app adding value to its users, and how can AI help me achieve it?". I didn't want it to sound cool just by including AI in it. As long as you're focused on the problem and not on how you can use AI in it, you're on the right track.
So the lesson is - Solve problems, with or without AI.
My next lesson is about fulfillment in life. I've been a Software Engineer working at tech companies for the past 7 years, but working on an idea from scratch, presenting a solution to my clients, and helping my clients with my skills has given me the greatest fulfillment. Working on my business was a better utilization of my skills than putting it in my 9-5.
Ok, now let me tell you about the web app and how I built it. The web app is hosted at https://klai.me.
Feel free to give it a try. I built it using programming languages like Python, JavaScript, etc. Feel free to DM me if you'd like to know more. It asks a few questions to its users, and based on that creates a personalized meditation track and this track becomes part of a user journey. Let's say you have stress-related issues. You can create a personalized series of meditation tracks for your stress issues, that evolve as you answer the questions on the app. And you can create different user journeys for different areas of your life.
Let me know how you like it. All suggestions for improvement are welcome. It's still in beta, so yes, there'll be a few bugs.
Thanks for reading!
