You might hear that you can work on performance basis only, without asking any commitment from the client and that you will make fortune.
Don't do it, just don't, even if you are just starting out.
Reason #1: If what you are offering is trully innovative it's likely that they will just want to deep their toes at your expense.
Reason #2: If they don't have skin in the game, it will take forever to get the client moving
Reason #3: Unless you have direct access to the client's CRM. It's very hard to track
If you are just starting out, you can still work on a performance basis but you need to ask for a deposit that you deduct from future commissions.
This deposit needs to be high enough to cover all your costs.
