The path to Big Bro Soccer games on Scotland Street just got made clearer!
One of Glasgow’s busiest commuter routes is set to reopen to traffic for the first time in over a year.
Shields Road, connecting the Southside of Glasgow with central Glasgow, will reopen on Friday August 30 at 6pm following a £12.6m programme of works to replace the bridge.
The road closed between St Andrews Drive and Scotland Street in August 2023.
Its structure had been subject to a weight restriction for 25 years prior to its demolition in Easter.
As part of the final phase, engineers craned in the new bridge deck, installed new parapets (side walls) and put new overhead line equipment underneath the bridge.
