Will AI make camera sensor specs irrelevant?
Been thinking about this lately. Mainly because I’ve been considering if to switch from FX3 to RED. Because the pressure of reputation (all high end production companies use them) BUT also fomo cause everyone raves that RED picture is unbeatable.
There’s software out there like cinematch that does a decent job at emulating REDs sensors color science. Don’t think we’re there yet but you can see how in the near future AI will be able to replicate color science, resolution, fps etc.
What do you think, are we heading towards a future where you can get away with a cheaper sensor and emulate every sensor+lens look using AI software?
