Why did God permit the killing of infants in 1Samuel?
Recently, I’ve been reading through the Old Testament, trying to read the Bible cover to cover so I can know more about the character of God because the God of the Old Testament is the same God in the New Testament. So in attempt of fully understand who He is I’ve been reading so while in first Samuel, God speaks to Saul and tells him to Mobilize his army of Israelites against the nation of Amalek, and spare no one ,not infants, women, children, or even donkeys.
So this was confusing to me and I questioned why the innocent children and infants had to die. And God revealed to me that he had given over 200 years to repent of their wicked deeds which included sacrificing children to pagan gods, all kind of heinous deeds that put people in jeopardy.
So God decided to settle his debt with them because they had also sinned against Israel, by attacking them from behind. a lot of Israelites died. didn’t answer why innocent had to die. Recently something had come up where I heard that the king of the Amakelites was also an advocate for the Nephilim and trying to raise the Nephilim race back up. So I’m thinking that’s another reason why God wanted to get rid of their entire nation. They were interested in raising up evil spirits and God is outside of time so maybe seen in the future how wicked they would become.. but im interested on y’all thoughts on this do you have any education for me insight perspective let me know… here’s the verse I was talking about.
“This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies has declared: I have decided to settle accounts with the nation of Amalek for opposing Israel when they came from Egypt. Now go and completely destroy the entire Amalekite nation—men, women, children, babies, cattle, sheep, goats, camels, and donkeys.””
