I saved this article from David Shapiro because I thought it extremely thought provoking. For too long we have used GDP as the "god" of economic index. People are measured as units of economic production or capital as opposed to human beings. This has always been the problem of the term "consumer" in my view. It dehumanises people into economic units.
The proposed measures in this article appear well thought out and an opportunity to create people centered economics. As we move towards a Post Labour and Meaning Economy, measurements such as GDP will only measure production of machines. How will we measure the well being of humans?
