New PBs and trusting the process
I've always struggled short course not being a very powerful swimmer - a big problem when most top breaststrokers spend almost half the race underwater! Last weekend I had a great time racing in Sheffield and managed to set 3 PBs.
50 BR - 31.10 --> 30.52 (finally faster than my long course πŸ˜‚)
100 BR - 1:07.79 --> 1:06.53
200 BR - 2:28.33 --> 2:27.20
I even managed to sneak under 30 seconds on my relay split (29.98) which was awesome. The 200 needs some big improvements still but it's getting there.
Short course season is never a focus, but it's been a good chance for me to work on my weaknesses like turns etc. and hopefully this will carry into long course improvements. I think what worked best was my mentality approaching races. I may have missed national qualifying times by tiny margins in each race, but I still approached the next race with the same confidence that I was improving.
In short, trust the process, if you work smart you will succeed eventually.
