Capturing ideas on the fly
I recently caught Tim talking to his phone again to capture his ideas on the fly. This inspired me to share his method with you all. "Shortcuts" is an Apple app available on every iPhone that creates programs to organise inputs into your pre-set inbox. In essence, you can vocalise your ideas into your phone and have the text appear in your inbox. Simply set up a database in Notion and designate it as your inbox. The Shortcuts app then communicates with Notion. Tim's shortcut is designed to "Later, sort the inbox—meeting notes, clip anything, share anything from the phone—getting things done." This approach aligns with David Allen's time-tested methodology: place items in an inbox and sort them later. It's particularly helpful for those fleeting thoughts you're worried you might forget.
