The Lannisters send their regards. Hold your horses, Stark fans. We’re talking Porto, and we’re talking wine. Hi, Tyrion!! Visiting Porto, Portugal in 2023 (with amigos) proved to be one of the best travel adventures I’ve embarked on. This city is a surprise. A fantasy football sleeper if you will. It’s got everything people look for in an ideal European destination. There is world class food, beaches, culture, and people. And, it's absurdly cheap compared to its European competition. Enough hype, let's talk activities in the city of bridges… Activity Recs Praia de Matosinhos (Beach) - Gorgeous beachfront located an uber ride from central Porto. Pack your bag for a day amongst the ocean. Bring a book, frisbee, football, and a credit card for your next surf lesson. WOW (World of Wine) Cultural District - Walk across the Dom Luis Pedestrian Bridge over the Douro River to visit the world of wine. This cultural hub was born through renovating port wine warehouses into a display of Porto’s personality. Enjoy art, food, and wine tasting. Try the local Port wine, but keep it to one glass. You’ll stay upright and avoid a splitting headache the next morning.

Train đźš‚ Tripping
My next trip is going to be a long tour. I want to go Amtrak from Houston > LA > Vancouver > Chicago > Houston I’m planning to stopover at certain places all along the way. I haven’t decided what places just yet but I want to see places I’ve never been. Important notes: I’ve lived in Kansas City, Phoenix and Vegas. Stayed in LA & San Diego a couple times. Never been North of Hollywood. Grand Canyon = 5 trips Would love some off the beaten path suggestions. Part of this trip is to get a good feel for Pacific Northwest. I was thinking about moving out that way. Every other move has been city unseen.

Hi 👋🏼 from Houston I’ve lived here 16 years. If I stay 2 more years, it will be the same amount of time as my hometown. Doubt I’ll make it another 2. I’m so ready to run up out of here. To where…. 🤔 if I knew for sure, the Uhaul would already be packed. As far as traveling 🧭 🧳 I’ve been to 26 states, 3 other continents. Africa (Kenya, Ghana, UAE), India 🇮🇳 (Asia) and New Zealand 🇳🇿 Dream destination - Bali or Fiji or Maldives I love the beach and mountains. New Zealand was truly the best of both worlds. As soon as these new ventures expand, I would love to move there. Essentially, I want my own Eat Pray Love adventure.

Creste Butte, CO
Newsletter sign up - it's free! Calling (some not all) leaf peepers! Y’all are reproducing like roaches! The Butte (no I’m not local) is home to a wonderful community with access to hiking trails, views, and a winter/summer sports playground. Not a bad food scene either… if we’re talking former abandoned mining towns. A healthy drive from Denver, Colorado - don’t make it a short weekend trip. Book at least 2.5-3 days to explore a town showcasing the best Colorado offers. Activity Recs Green lake via carbon trail hike - This hike is roughly 10 minutes from downtown Crested Butte. A perfect trail to hike after a long drive to loosen those legs and reset the mind to embrace its new environment. The trail is wooded to start, opens to an incredible valley view, and ends with a stop at Green Lake to enjoy a bite and a dip in nature's best cold plunge. Fly Fishing - I’m claiming this recommendation as a good friend of mine (who happens to share MY name) believes Crested Butte has the best fly fishing in Colorado. He proved his point as he had his best weekend of fishing this year during our last visit in September. If you’ve got the cast and can embrace that fishy smell, click the link and choose your river. Fall Colors - Crested Butte is known for its incredible fall color scene. The area is blessed with vast aspen groves courtesy of Kebler’s Pass. Time your visit with the changing leaves using the link shared, or, around the chili and beer festival every fall. Resilient Threads - A thrift store that’s not too big. An affordable outlet. You won’t be overwhelmed - you’ll be inspired. Cop a Patagonia and start asking people, “How long have you lived in Denver?”.
