Chase Sapphire Reserve losing benefit.
Horrible News in the points and miles world. The CSR Card will lose Priority Pass Restaurant benifits starting July 1 2024.
Following suit with Amex Platinum that lost the benefit Aug 1 2019, and Capital One Venture X that lost the benefit January 1 2023.
This was the one benifit that set the CSR Card apart from its competitors and was an easy way to make back the other $250 of the large $550 annual fee.
Access to a $28 credit for up to two people at a total of $56 at 37 different restaurants across 25 US airports is a huge loss. One could get $28-$56 in value every time they flew out, had a layover, or arrived at their final destination depending on the airport. Sometimes using that full credit 2 or 3 times on a trip.
I was just about to upgrade from the regular $95 CSP card to the CSR to pick up the priority pass restaurant credits. Now I will have to rethink that decision.
If you are a CSR cardholder does this make you want to close the card? Or possibly downgrade to the $95 CSP version?
This further solidifies my favorite premium travel card as the Capital One Venture X. What is your favorite premium travel credit card?
