Hello Students - it's Test Week for some, and a regular Prep Day for others.
Regardless of where you are in the process, you need a plan! Otherwise, you will find that just about anything will get in the way of test prep.
For my test week kids, you should be confirming what you already know about your current skill level.
NOT trying to "cram in" more last-second prep. Cramming doesn't work, anyway!
The best use of your time this week is to maximize your strong areas and acknowledge your "under construction" areas. Give yourself a confidence boost in the process as well.
So fill in the blanks in this schedule for the rest of the week.
Tuesday (today): Order the sections from strongest to weakest.
Complete 20 minutes of review and practice in your weakest area.
Write down at least one strategy suggestion for this section (handwritten or Google doc).
Identify 3 specific questions/types of questions that give you the MOST trouble in this area.
Attempt to write down how you would solve each type of question.
Send me the question(s) if you are unable to solve them! I will make a Loom video explaining them for you.
Wednesday: 20 minutes of review and practice in your 2nd weakest area.
Identify 2 specific questions/types of questions that give you trouble.
Write down how you would solve these types of questions.
If you are unsure, send me the questions for a Loom video explainer!
Thursday: 20 minutes review/practice in 2nd strongest area.
Identify 2 specific questions/types of questions that give you trouble.
Write down how you would solve these types of questions.
If you are unsure, send me the questions for a Loom video explainer!
Friday: Final Prep. 20 minutes of review/practice in your strongest area.
Pick out a potentially tricky problem (specific question or type of question) and write down what you're going to do when you encounter a problem like this one on the test.
Make sure the "little things" are all taken care of. Know how long it takes to get to your testing center. Make sure you have at least four sharpened pencils. Fully charge your calculator. Print out your registration ticket and put it in whatever bag you're planning on bringing into the testing center with you. Pick out your favorite snack and drink.
Saturday: TEST DAY! Plan to arrive at the testing center no later than 7:40am.
I hope this helps someone to prepare efficiently for Saturday's test! Let me know if you have specific questions.
