Science Fair Project Advice

Hey, I am doing a project involving creating a calculus based model. My datasets have more than 500 datapoints so I needed to use programming. I was researching what to use and came across using regression. I don't know much about the programming techniques so can I get some advice on what to use and how to learn it?

Also, I wanted to finish this project in two months so do you guys think I should get a mentor or no?
