Not what you think it is
I just got back from coaching my two son’s basketball game!
They are in the 6—to 8-year-old league, so there is a range of skills and abilities.
Before the game, one of the parents came to me and said, “Player name is really struggling because she’s the only girl.”
And for once, I didn’t know what to say.
So I said, “Huh, I never thought of that because I’ve never been in that situation. Anyway, we’ll get it figured out together.” (More on this later)
Side quest: One of the things I am focused on is skill development.
How to shoot the ball the proper way, for example.
If you’ve never shot a basketball, the best way to do it is to pin your elbow to your ribs, forming a 90-degree angle, hold the ball like you’re carrying a pizza with one hand, and push from underneath.
Doing this will allow you to shoot the ball up and not out, increasing the chances of the basketball going through the hoop.
Back to the main mission: The best way to figure it out is to score and win.
And we did those two things.
Player name, had 2 points, and we won 18 to 4.
I am most excited because almost everyone scored, we won, and they had fun.
This was just the first game of the season, we’ve only practiced together 3 or 4 times, so we should continue to get better.
So, what does this have to do with you?
You may be a little discouraged because you feel like everyone is making money online (they ain’t)
You might be feeling a little frustrated because you feel like nothing is working.
You might be looking for something different because it looks better over there.
But it’s like I told the parent, “We’ll get it figured out together.”
