School Tournament - Day 1

It's been quite some time since my last post. So, I am back with yet another tournament story. I was not supposed to go for this tournament as this was an open age tournament which is basically U-19 because I don't think there are kids that are older than that in school. But ended up going because our school's U-19 team had gone for a national tournament. Our team was filled with kids from Grade 8, 9 & 10. Our coach had only picked 10 of us for a 11 a-side tournament as he wanted to save the other 6 spots for the kids that are going to come back from the national tournament.

This was a 11 a-side tournament. First there was a group stage with 2 groups of 5 teams each and the top 2 teams from each group would qualify for semis. The finalists qualify for the national championship.

We won our first match 10-0. This was an easy game and the match was ended 5-10 minutes early.

Our second match was really tough. We were playing 10 men against one of the strongest teams. We dominated in the first half and also managed to take the lead with a banger by our striker. But in the second half a wrong call from the referee gave them a free kick from the edge of the box, from which they equalised. And they scored their second from a short corner which hit the post and went in. We lost the game 2-1, but we dominated them with just 10 men.

The next day our team that went to nationals will be coming back.
