Introducing Ihuaku Nweke
Ihuaku Patricia Nweke, often known simply as 'Ihu', reflects on her nearly two-decade-long journey in the procurement industry with a sense of accomplishment and gratitude. As she approaches a significant milestone this May, she finds herself reminiscing about the growth, challenges, and meaningful contributions that have defined her career.
Hailing from a background shaped by immigration and cultural adaptation, Ihu draws inspiration from her experiences as the daughter of an immigrant medical doctor who sought refuge in the U.K. amidst political unrest in Nigeria. These early life experiences instilled in her a sense of resilience and empathy that would later shape her professional endeavors.
Beyond her role in procurement, Ihu is deeply passionate about empowering women and fostering community healing. As the founder of Cedarcube, she has spearheaded initiatives like the "Behind the Mask" project, which provides vital support to individuals affected by domestic abuse. Through counseling therapy, educational programs, and financial assistance, Ihu and her team have made a tangible difference in the lives of many.
In addition to her advocacy work, Ihu has a creative side that she enthusiastically explores through fashion and design. In 2008, she ventured into the world of fashion by establishing her own jewelry and fashion line, I.Kollection. Over the years, her designs have graced prestigious runways and events, earning recognition for their elegance and uniqueness.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Ihu remains actively engaged in initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. She is a dedicated member of the United Nations Women UK delegation and serves as a community champion in the Epping Forest district, where she extends her commitment to making a positive impact beyond the workplace.
As Ihu looks back on her journey, she feels grateful for the opportunities she's had to grow, learn, and contribute to causes she's passionate about. From her career in procurement to her advocacy work and creative ventures, each experience has shaped her into the dedicated professional and compassionate advocate she is today.
