The letter A has two sounds in English. The short sound sounds like the "a" in the word "cat" and the long sound is like the "a" in the word "cake". In Spanish, the letter A has one sound. The sound is shorter than the letter "a" sound in English. It is similar to the sound of the "a" in the word "large".
