My Podcast Journey & Why I'm Here
Hi everyone! My name is Ricardo Vasquez, and I’m thrilled to be here. I’m the host of the Youthful Aging Secrets podcast, where I interview superagers (older ppl crushing it) and health experts to uncover actionable insights for living as healthy as possible for as long as possible. The podcast is my passion project, inspired by my late father, and I aim to make health and longevity information accessible to everyone. Here’s a link to my show if you’d like to check it out: www.youthfulagingsecrets.com I’m here to connect with like-minded podcasters, learn from this amazing community, and take my podcast to the next level. Looking forward to sharing ideas, collaborating, and supporting each other’s growth. Thank you, Ricardo Vasquez

Hey @Ricardo Vasquez this is great to see and reminds me that I need to add a bio of my own. Two groups that I do a lot of work with are older adults and people with disabilities. We should talk as I'm sure there is scope to collaborate here.
Any good transcription tools?
Hi Podschoolers I want to transcribe my podcasts and make them available to improve accessibility. Any recommendations?

As a newbie to the whole podcasting thing @James Burtt some training on this would be really useful. I know you have produced a list of recommended hardware but have you done one for software? As you know there are so many different options out there it would be really helpful to have that narrowed down with pros/ cons from the experts.

@Alex Chisnall excellent I look forward to it as anything that makes things simpler works for me. I'm slowly working my way through the course, and it's top quality especially as a freebie. My favourite price point πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸΏ
WEEK ONE OF OUR FREE COURSE: Start, Grow & Monetise Your Podcast
Hey Pod Schoolers, @James Burtt & I are excited to share week one of our brand new course with you: Start, Grow and Monetise Your Podcast. It's available now by clicking the 'classroom' tab here in Pod School So, click on the Classroom tab above here in Pod School and just START! The hardest thing with podcasting, and many other things in life (!) is taking that first step, e.g. just starting. If not now, then when is a question I always ask myself when faced with an opportunity that my future self ( @Pete Cohen ) will thank me for. The best thing I ever did was start my podcast. It honestly changed my life. For the better. The people I've met, the conversations I've had.. and the opportunities that have come my way..have been immeasurable. And both james and I want you to experience what we have experienced through podcasting. So just get started by clicking on the classroom tab. Then watch each individual lesson. Then take action and implement. And use the accompanying resources too. And document your podcasting journey. Let us know your challenges and your wins, we want to know!

@Alex Chisnall you are right on the money. @Jools Tyrer if you have a dream and the podcast is part of that dream go for it. If you can't take the promotion and do the podcast ask yourself 'Which one would feed your soul the promotion or the podcast?' Whichever one will make you feel better is the one you need to do unless it's just about the money in which case take the promotion...πŸ˜‰πŸ‘€πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸ½

@Jools Tyrer the sensible option is the one you choose because your intuition is guiding you. If it's scary then it's probably the right thing to do cos your ego wants to keep you safe and where you are but your intuition knows what you need to do and wants you to make progress towards your dream (if you believe in that sort of thing - I do!) You already know what to do so do that!! πŸ‘€πŸ€―πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ˜‡πŸ™πŸ½πŸ˜

I will definitely give this a listen as I love this guy. I work with a lot of older adults and he is a great example of how growing old doesn't mean you can't keep fit and healthy and is the opposite to the MSM message of zimmer frames and moaning about your aches and pains πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ˜πŸ’ͺ🏽
How To Find The Right Podcast Category
Pod Schooler @Gwendy Krijger-Rabbitte asked a great question the other day about how to actually find the categories that you should consider for your podcast so I wanted to share this link as a separate post. So, when choosing a category for your show there are about 100 categories and sub-categories... and choosing the right one (or right ones) can be the difference between a podcast launch that flies ✈️ and one that dies ☠️! Bit dramatic, but it is true as well! Me and @Alex Chisnall covered the importance of choosing the right category in the latest episode of the podcast (which is now No.1 in the UAE, No.1 in Malaysia, No.2 in the UK...because of being in the right categories!) which you can watch on our OFFICIAL YOUTUBE CHANNEL https://podcasters.apple.com/support/1691-apple-podcasts-categories this will show you all the main Apple Podcast categories... and all the platforms work off this - they might call it slightly different things, but this list will show you the main, top-line categories

How To Find The Right Podcast Category

My podcast is called pain free living and will be based around explanations + advice on common muscle and joint problems, issues like fibromyalgia, vit b12 deficiency, dry needling, kinesiotape. tens machines etc. etc. I also plan to do interviews with interesting people in the health world in the 2nd season as well as more joint / problem stuff. It's not as boring as it sounds - honest πŸ‘€πŸ€―πŸ˜Ž Would you say alternating between Self-improvement and Alternative Health would be the best categories as the things I cover don't really fit into any category do they?
