Navy federal credit line increase rules
Navy Federal Credit Union has specific rules and guidelines for increasing your credit line. When requesting a credit line increase (CLI), it is recommended to ask for the maximum amount possible, which is $9,000. If the maximum amount is not approved, Navy Federal will automatically provide a counteroffer. For individuals who are new to Navy Federal, it is common to start with the Cash Rewards card. It is recommended to request a CLI every 91 days for the maximum amount of $9,000 until reaching the 12-month mark of owning the Cash Rewards card. At that point, you can consider switching to the Flagship card. On the personal side, Navy Federal typically offers a total credit limit of $80,000 across all credit cards. It is important to always request a CLI through the Navy Federal app rather than over the phone to ensure a smoother process. If you have two Navy Federal credit cards, it is possible to request CLI for both on the same day, with a soft pull within the app. However, calling for a CLI may result in a hard pull. For business credit cards with Navy Federal, the credit limit can go up to $25,000, with starting limits usually ranging from $10,000 to $15,000. It is important to note that requesting a CLI for business credit cards will result in a hard pull on your Experian credit report. It is crucial to consider your financial metrics and eligibility when requesting credit line increases to increase the likelihood of approval.

Hi Jackie I returned to this post, due to my recent entry into NFCU, these are great points if you have any other insightful data points, I would highly appreciate it if you would be able to share them or point me in the right direction. Btw isn't the maximum allowed CLI allowed every 181 days and up to $8,000 only?

Chase credit line increase 🚀
Chase offers two opportunities for a soft pull credit limit increase. Option #1: In-App To find this opportunity in the Chase app, go to the Credit Card Dashboard and navigate to the Manage Account section. Look for the "Request a credit limit increase" category under "Transfer A Balance". If you are pre-approved for a CLI, Chase will ask for your permission to submit a hard pull. If they request a hard pull, it means you are not pre-approved for a credit limit increase via the app. Option #2: Phone Call Call the number on the back of your card and ask for a credit limit increase. Inquire whether it will be a soft or hard pull. If you are pre-approved for a CLI, the representative should mention that it is a soft pull and provide a disclaimer before requesting it for you. There are two possible outcomes: you may get instantly approved for the CLI with the new credit limit provided over the phone, or you may be informed that it is pending and will need to wait 1-3 days for the results. Multiple credit limit increases can be requested in a day. It's important to note that Chase may also automatically increase your credit lines without you asking, which will always be a soft pull. However, it is recommended to double-check with Chase before proceeding as terms and conditions may vary.

A new data point I have experienced is if you already have a Chase Credit card, and are above 5/24, when attempting to ask for a CLI you will be denied, because it is still new credit. I confirmed it with the lending department over the phone, and they explained it too me !
