The next steps?
You’ve read a great book, you’ve seen it in your mind on stage as being a great play, you’ve outlined the Acts and scenes. What next to move the concept forward? Write the script? Have it read and rewrite? Contact the author/author’s agent?

Donor base vs Fan base
Your suggestion to “develop a fan base” makes so much sense for where I am right now as opposed to my initial question regarding project donations/donors. You have a great ability to funnel all my questions to the place where I am and the direction in which I should be moving. The clarity you provided is amazing and so helpful. Thank you for your advice.

Playwrights — Take the Initiative
Don’t wait for the perfect opportunity—create it. To maximize your chances of getting produced, commit to consistent submissions to theaters, festivals, and grant programs aligned with your play’s themes. Start today: research five theaters or grants that match your work. Draft a customized pitch email for each, highlighting why your story aligns with their mission. Set a goal to send at least two submissions this week. Consistency, paired with targeted effort, paves the way to Broadway.

Nycplaywrights.org is a great resource that I use for festivals.
Another resource for Playwrights
@Bruce Sisler this is for you ;) Another great resource for writers is the Playwrights Center. https://pwcenter.org/membership/ They offer Programs of Classes, Fellowships, Script feed back and more! Here's is the "About" Section from their website: Founded in 1971 by six writers seeking artistic and professional support, Playwrights’ Center today serves more playwrights in more ways than any other organization in the country. One of the nation’s most generous and well-respected theater organizations, Playwrights’ Center focuses on both supporting playwrights and promoting new plays to production at theaters across the country. The Center has helped launch the careers of numerous nationally recognized artists, notably Daniel Alexander Jones, Lee Blessing, Carlyle Brown, Sheila Callaghan, Karl Gadjusek, Marcus Gardley, Idris Goodwin, Sarah Gubbins, Jordan Harrison, Jeffrey Hatcher, Craig Lucas, Martyna Majok, Melanie Marnich, Qui Nguyen, Kira Obolensky, and August Wilson. Work developed through Center programs has been seen nationwide on such stages as The Guthrie, Lincoln Center Theater, New York Theater Workshop, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Steppenwolf, The Public, Woolly Mammoth, and many others .
