Supporting your child's wellbeing
This is for everyone who is Feeling overwhelmed Tired On the brink of giving up πŸ˜ͺ Are you asking yourself these questions? Why is this so hard? Is the 11 Plus even right for my child? Why is my child giving me such a hard time? Are you afraid that it is getting a little too much? πŸ—£οΈπŸ˜¬ These are perfectly normal questions. I have asked these questions myself. I have made mistakes, bungled up with my first child trying to get him to make fewer mistakes, nagged him endlessly, and made blunders instead of helping him gain confidence. I learnt lessons from this so I made fewer of these mistakes with my second child. I have done it all! BUT I am alive to tell you the story. My children got into their choice of schools and now universities. Many parents feel a lot of pressure at this time, especially those of you who are getting ready for a summer of intense work and anxiety before the 11+ exams in September. I wanted to offer this here first, and to those who want help and are unafraid to ask for it because it means you are brave and ready to find a way, to solve your problem.🌟 I want you to have what you want. And there are good people I work with who feel the same way. Charlotte Watson who is the director of Wonderlearn Tuition and a top English expert and I have recorded a video to show you how you can support your child's wellbeing and see yours improve too. In it, we explore the ways that you can help your child to not just cope. We want your child to hope and to soar! πŸ”ΊπŸ’« Here is a link to the video 'Supporting your child's wellbeing' before we release it for all. For those curious to know who Charlotte is and what she does, here's her business page

@Sabah Hadi , Thanks for sharing. Some really good points. Relieved to know that am not the only parent feeling this way. 😊
How to continue a non-fiction passage
In our parent's reading workshop, we discussed several ways to enhance reading skills. One was continuing a story... a parent asked how we apply this to non-fiction passages. It was an excellent question, kudos to @Anu Nair who asked this. So I set about finding out the best ways to do this. And welcome, Anu to our flagship OS course.πŸ₯³ We are so excited that you have joined it and your child will be taking part in the book club meeting on 26th May! These are my tips...🌟 1. Do some digging on the topic, for example, if it is a passage on climate change, research recent changes in a specific country where climate has remarkably changed and expand on it. 2. Pick a person mentioned in the passage find out more about him/her and write about them. 3. Find out what the future could be for the topic mentioned. For example, if it is about farming, read up about the advances and predictions for the sector and write in your own words... Do you have any more tips to continue a non-fiction passage...write them down below. This is a link to help you with continuing stories, I love Robert Lomax's videos ❀️https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCLlg1U7yf4

Thanks Sabah... These are great points. Following from the workshop we went through couple of non-fiction paragraphs and this time instead of me leading and explaining how things are, left it to my child to come up with his thoughts. They were interesting and I soon figured out background information building was lacking. Most of the time the answers were inadequate only because he did not understand the context. Yet to go through the video. Am sure will get more practical tips from there.

Thanks for adding me to the group. Son is preparing for 11+ this year. Looking forward to getting ideas from parents on the same journey
