Should You Sacrifice Fitness for Financial Gains?
I'm currently working in Marketing Department with a salary of MYR3-4.5K (USD650-1030) per month. Although I do learn a thing or two when it comes to digital marketing, I hated the entire corporate culture -- from traffic jams, being stuck in a cubicle for 50 hours a week and being told what to do by some fat dude in the office. I'm now planning to "build a rocket ship" for my escape. Here are my escape plans as followed: 1. Save enough money from my job (6 months of expenses) 2. Relocate a portion of money as investment funds and learn to trade Since stacking as much bread as I can is the main priority, Ive go through some extreme measures - eating one meal a day, stop eating out and even not subscribing to the gym anymore. However I was quite concerned about the gym part. I feel like the gym would actually give me nett positive in the long run (better health, good physique, clarity) but if I subscribed to the gym monthly (the gym I'm going is subscription based) that means a portion of my salary will be used for the gym's monthly subscription and thus, slower the process of me getting out of my 9-5. My brothers, if saving money to escape your job is your main priority. Would you sacrifice your fitness to achieve that goal? Or you think that fitness is the core of everything? I would like to hear your suggestions, appreciate that!

I do think that sometimes sacrificing fitness for your ultimate goal is necessary. However, in this case, I think it’s up to you: do you want to become someone who keeps an athletic physique even when he is grinding the fuck out of life? There’s no good answer here: you choose your priority. Also, I really don’t think eating 1meal/day is safe for you, even if you want to drastically lose weight. It’ll take a lot of time to build back your hunger hormones. You don’t have to rush this by the way. If I was you, I’d try to balance everything, maybe putting more accent on work. I’d try to stay jacked, keep a good diet, good mental health, all while on working my ass off.
Introduction (unique story inside)
Okay then guys we've got a lot of introductions here in the Outliers community... Hey, I'm Felix. I'm 15 and I'm from Montreal, Canada. My dream is to become a surgeon while having good mental health, an athletic, masculine physique, and potentially a business, but I'm still evaluating whether that's feasible in my case. CONTEXT/STORY Last year, I was disciplined, had excellent mental health, had a decent build for my age and size (I'm 5'3), and even made it to the top 6 best students in my year (top 2%). However this summer everything seemed to change. My mental health, discipline, drive, and physique (you name it) all got worse, and I'm going to do my best to reclaim all of it to best my old self. I want to learn how to become disciplined again, learn how to gain/build an even bigger advantage over people my age, and overall become a more well-rounded/adapted man. My biggest struggles are my discipline, willpower, and focus. I'd also add my small arms in there. I’m not very big yet, maybe lean.
