I'm a real estate sales assistant until I turn 18, then I'm planning on becoming a fully licensed realtor, however the people I'm working for don't seem like the greatest people to work for because of some specific reasons, but they have given me a chance in real estate which not many other companies would give a 16 year old a chance I've been tasked with cold calling for the person I'm working for where they've thrown me into the deep end without much guidance, doing 8 hours straight on Saturday then 2 hours a day each day during the week after school going down a list of everyone in the entire suburb I have heard that FSBO and Expired listings are the best way of doing it, but can't figure out how to get the people's phone numbers because the platform I use has numbers that sometimes don't show up when you search for the person and it's a long process The person I'm working for said I might be an assistant for him for years rather than just a year and a half until I turn 18 which isn't what I want, because it will benefit him, but not me You see, my thoughts are this: When you get a mortgage, you're stuck to the bank until you pay it off, I see it the same as this, I don't want to be stuck to him for years when I could be doing things for me instead I'm already going to have to do a ton of cold calling for me when I become a realtor and don't want to get stuck with doing cold calling for someone else for years before that, does that make sense? I'm not complaining, I'm just trying to figure out what exactly to do because if I did leave then I'd have no income and nowhere to go for a year and a half, but if I stay, then I'm working for someone else to do calling all the time and not being taught much when they said they would teach me Just so you know, I did sign up to learn from them rather than being thrown out there to figure it out myself with no training What are your thoughts based on what I've said, you can put me in my place if you don't agree with me, or if you have any tips, please share
