101 survival in the woods
This is a great intro into wooded area survival and basics. There's a few things I like in this video on what gear was useful, what was unnecessary, and what they should have brought. Plus covering a bit on what is needed, preparations you should take, and the conditions you could face in a survival/ primal camping situation. This was similar conditions to what it would be like in the foothills and lower elevation mountains in Colorado. Why is this useful information to know? When are you ever going to need to do this? Great questions, but in the event that your house is no longer a safe space to be, you're on I70 heading up the mountain pass and get caught in a blizzard and you're stuck with roads shut down, civil war, terrorist attacks, evacuation because of natural disasters, road trip and your car breaks down in the middle of nowhere. There are many situations that you can find yourself in that being prepared is the matter of life and death. The most important thing to know is the area you're going to be near. You would pack differently for a trip to the Rocky Mountains then you would to the Everglades of South Florida. Understanding the climate, terrain, area conditions, water, animals, foliage, ect. Being familiar with the area is going to give you an edge over adversities of being stuck in a poor situation. Knowing what you're up against, how to navigate through the terrain, and having some simple tools and supplies can be the difference in you making it out.
