Let Your Grief Inspire You to Keep on Living
Hi, I'm Catherine, the Founder of Grief Inspired. I lost my infant son 13 years ago and my life changed forever. I’ve also lost my dad recently. This community is designed to help ease the pain of grief, give you hope, and teach you how to keep on living after being devastated by loss. Please introduce yourself by answering these questions: who did you lose? when did you lose them? what support would help you most?

I lost my husband, Joe, 7/8/2021. Joe’s brother died 7/26/2021 and our 59 yr old niece died 12/23/2022. Right now I am dealing with missing Joe and having him here at home with me. For the past 7 yrs we did not socialize much due to his illness and before that we were just not the type of couple who went out a lot. We never had close friendships except for family members none of which lived very close to us. A conflict within me is wanting to socialize, but also wanting to be alone. Trying to find a balance of the two.

@Jordan Kelso You have so many wonderful memories of your brother. He seems like he was a wonderful person. Treasure those memories.

You win either way, but I think the win you get when you put your heart and soul into the effort is a much bigger win. A lot harder to achieve, but it will mean more to you than the win you get if you just say I wanted that and got it. More effort used for a win = a more satisfying feeling and more satisfying win.
The blessings of nature
I definitely can wrap my head around this! How about you?

@Tonya Mcgrew Hang in there, Tonya. Anniversary dates can be difficult. Is there anything your doing to honor your marriage to Phil and the life you did have together?

I’m looking forward to my Yin Yoga class tomorrow. It is a lot of stretching of muscles, mindfulness and breathing. It helps to keep my anxiety at bay and to relax.
Grief Mantras
I’ve decided one way for me to see these mantras frequently is to load them onto my digital photo frame. I will see them and family visiting me will see them and hopefully realize my grief journey is always present , but I’m learning to find a softer spot for it in my heart
