This is one of my all time favorites… So in the Bible, John was an apostle of Jesus. He spent ~3 years at Jesus’ side. In the book of John, chapter 21, Peter asks Jesus about John. Verses 20-21: “Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved (John) following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee? Peter seeing him (John) saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?” Jesus’ response was interesting… Verses 22-23 21: Jesus says, “If I will that he will tarry until I come, what is that to you? Follow thou me. 22: “Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple (John) should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?” ‭‭ Now here’s something crazy about the apostle John. After Jesus rose from the dead and ascended into heaven, the apostles spread the word about Jesus all over the known world. All but one of them died as a martyr… except for who? Yup. John. He outlived all of them. But here’s where it gets even crazier. Non biblical, historical recordings reveal that the ruling powers at the time attempted to kill John, but were unsuccessful. At one point they even submerged John into a vat of boiling oil and he was completely unharmed. They literally could NOT kill him. So they exiled him to the island Patmos. Which is still around today. Historians ASSUME that John eventually died in Ephesus and was buried there too. But those are just assumptions. Now the Bible verses above are clear. Jesus never said that John wouldn’t die BUUUUT Jesus did tell Peter “What is it to you if I let John tarry until I return again?” The ruling powers couldn’t kill John. Jesus said what he about John tarrying until His return. So… Is John the apostle still alive and among us today? My friend @Clint C says he’s probably a chaplain at St. John’s hospital.
