Why is footwork so important in the sport eFoiling?
I’m sure you guys have been around eFoiling for some time now. If you haven’t and your fairly new to the sport you’ll appreciate the head start 💪🏽 Think of a manual car… 🚗 When we accelerate we shift upwards and when we decelerate we shift downwards. Imagine your feet as the shifter. When we accelerate, we must shift our weight forward in order to prevent over lifting. Same goes for slowing down, as the board falls we need to increase lift by shifting weight back on the board. The idea is that we stay at the same height no matter what our speed is at. In this video, really pay attention to the footwork. Take a look at the movements, placement and when the movements occurs. Listen to the sound of the motor as the feet move. Let me know your thoughts? 🫡

@Todd Wiese I ride gear 20 full time. No matter what speed I’m riding. This is is attainable by anyone but we need to take necessary steps to get there. Are you on a 2.0 or 2.2 controller? The 2.0 is a bit more challenging because of the smaller range trigger but is doable. What gear do you usually ride in?

@Ivan Miller hey Ivan, so depending on the shim setting shims shouldn’t add or increase drag. The wings may change angle of attack while simultaneously adjusting our position on the board. You’re correct, + shimming increase front and negative shimming increases rear. When it comes to front wing shimming, you can actually change the characteristics of throttle pitch by countering with rear shimming. I personally ride 1 off. For example -1 front -2 rear, -2 front -3 rear and so on. I’ve even been riding -4 front -5 rear which feels very similar to the lower shims but with a bit more lift in the front wing.

Hey @Pete Coggan , welcome to the community, always exciting to have riders with various backgrounds. Is your Frankenfoil the red and black pro thats been floating around the internet? You should share a photo. Always fun to see custom efoils. How long does it take to charge a battery on Solar?

@Scott Hays hey Scott! Welcome to the community. Stoked you can be part of it! Are you taking a lesson with Kyle Newman from eFoil SD? Being a beginner you’ll take away so much value in the Ride Safe course. This course will have you ripping turns and shredding in no time. And most importantly riding in a way where you’ll fall safely every time. It’s unlike any other lesson out there and will give you the foundations to eventually get your tips out and push g’s with minimal effort. Please share your rides, ask questions and most importantly learn as much as you can from everyone. Looking forward to seeing your progression 🤙🏽🤙🏽

Hi, I'm Stephan, probably better known as, "that guy from Verdant Ride." Happy to join the conversation. I'd love to discuss gear/tech, share some riding tips, eFoil racing and course design, and help eFoiling progress for new and experienced riders. @Justin Chait You've got stellar advice! I want to see more of your content out there in the world. To help contribute to the cause, I'd be happy to donate last year's Verdant Ride recording gear to your cause. I want to see more footage of you riding from a greater distance so you can show off more of your carves and I've got just the thing to help enable that. I've got a bunch of waterproof drones and more batteries than should be allowed in one location. Sorry, gotta hang on to the new FPV and Insta360 kit for at least one more season. :) If you can make use of it, I'd like to see more content from knowledgable sources and you're a great source. If you are interested, just let me know where to ship. I put a link to my video review of the drones below. I think they'll be perfect for your needs and because they have floats you can just land them in the water. Beware of the auto-tracking feature though. It works a bit too well and has a tendency to chase you a bit too closely. You ride pretty fast, so I'm sure you can stay ahead of it.

Welcome @Stephan Kuslich! Thanks for being apart of the community. You’re a wealth of knowledge yourself and will definitely be a valuable member. The plan is to have more content like you suggest. Would be stoked to try some gear that you aren’t using. For everyone reading this, if there’s any content you want to see let me know and also please share your content. I recently picked up an avata 2 and working on getting my 360 replaced. Both lenses are scratched at the moment so I’ve been hesitant on using them. I’ll pm my address 🤙🏽🤙🏽

@Stephan Kuslich thanks for the insight on the insta 4x. I was contemplating on ordering it. my x3 has some scratches on the lens. Haven't been very excited to use it because of the scratches lol. Very excited about your heat seeking drone! Should be getting my Ultra back from Foil Factory on monday. Its been in the shop for about a month... Cannot wait to get to shredding again.
