🎤 Meet Your Vocal Coach: Kathryn Parsley 🎤
Hello, hello! 🌟 I'm Kathryn Parsley, and I'm excited to be your vocal coach here in Skool in addition to being your moderator in "a group where we pretend to be members of the same choir." With over a decade of experience in vocal coaching, I specialize in helping singers remove obstacles to their best sound. My unique approach focuses on teaching each singer how to "cheat" their way to achieving their choir directors' ideal choral sound. 🎶 What I Offer: - Personalized Coaching: Whether you're a choral singer or a soloist, I provide customized coaching tailored to your voice and your goals; - Networking: Tips and strategies to help you build valuable connections in the music industry; - University Prep: Guidance for singers auditioning for university programs and advice on thriving in a university environment. 🗣️ Why I’m Here: I'm thrilled to be a part of this creative and fun community. I truly admire the work Jake is doing with the Virtual Choir, and I’m here to support this group in every way I can. My goal is to help each of you discover and refine your voice, whether it’s for our virtual performances or beyond. Feel free to reach out with any questions, share your experiences, or just say hi! I’m here to support you on your musical journey. Looking forward to making beautiful music together! 🎤🎶 Yours In Harmony, Kathryn Parsley

Your story
I’d love to hear your journey into music and what it means to you! If you’re not able to sing in a group right now I’d love to hear what a virtual choir community means to you.

When I was in the 7th grade, a boy I liked was in choir. The rest is history 🙃

@Julie Bomar The worst part is, it's all true. I met this boy in 7th grade, we'll call him Carter. Carter was in Ms. Colburn's choir, so I joined in the second semester. I was put in the alto section because I SUUUUCKED. This also meant I didn't sit anywhere near him. But we walked to and from classes together, so it was fine. In high school, Carter was in the "boys choir" and so I joined the "girls choir" in the hopes that we would be in the combined choir next year. It didn't happen. Carter was super cute and a reeeally good singer (or so it seemed at the time) so he was immediately put in "advanced" mixed choir. I, on the other hand, was put into what everyone considered the "bottom" choir for girls. So I begged my mom and dad for voice lessons and I got better. Carter and I were in musical theater shows together, both in drama class and in the local community theater. But we were never in the same choir. By the time senior year rolled around, it wasn't about him anymore. It was about my pride! I was sick of being in the "bottom choir." Anyway, he ended up dating a mutual friend in theater who was a year older than we were, and she told him I liked him. It ruined our friendship and after our last show together, Bye Bye Birdie, I never saw him again. And ~20 years later, I have a doctorate in vocal performance. IDK how this happened. What is my life?
Yee Hah
I’ve made it to level 4! Just a billion more to level 5 😏🙄🤣

Not currently in a choir and I miss my "Alto Army." The jokes, the camaraderie, the jokes, the side-eye and knowing smirks, all of it! And we can't leave out the jokes!
