I'm actually experiencing this with my grandmother. And she was probably even closer to me than my parents were at some points in my life. It definitely is impactful for those who sees somebody going through the stages, and for the individual themselves. I admire what you do!

Interesting timing because I have been thinking very hard lately about purpose. Partly because I have been in thought about my own. To be quite honest, I have yet to find mine. In books and movies, the protagonist often starts off not knowing their purpose or goal that they need to achieve. Frodo didn't know he'd be the one initially to take the ring where it needed to go until the meeting at Rivendell, The four children did not know they would be in a battle to save Narnia and its inhabitants until there was no choice but to do it. Neo did not know he would be the one until it happened (and in the fourth movie, the reality later was he's only half of one.) Just not quite there yet. I keep reading books, meditating, trying new things... Maybe it'll come to light. Who knows. I feel like some people go through their entire life without realizing and/or accepting their purpose. I live right behind a 55+ community, and during dog walks I befriended a lot of those who are elderly. We get into conversation all the time, and often they'd say "I wish..." or "Its too late..." or even "it sucks..." and most of their stories involve working endlessly until they were too old too, and then having to work some more because they don't get enough money from 401k etc. The consistent factor is when I asked their favorite thing to do, whether before or currently - they didn't have much to work with, no purpose as an adult except to work to pay society back. Just... Lived life to get old. One thing they've unknowingly taught me is that I rather not be one of them. As dark as this can sound, who wants to live just to die saying thats all that they did? Should be a combination of finding your purpose, accepting it in a way, but also enjoying it and doing something with it - among doing cool shit. Haven't really sorted all these thoughts, just letting it roll of the tongue. Could keep writing but I should stop or I'll break this thread. LOL.
