Article on M&A
If anyone is interested, here is an article I have written on M&A and how a number of current events may impact deal making in the US market https://medium.com/@kyancassidy24/m-a-outlook-looks-mixed-but-fed-rate-cut-could-clear-a-path-edff4a1e9dc3

Writing a Cover Letter for IB Spring Week applications
What are some helpful resources to build an excellent cover letter, alongside potential examples? What tips do you recommend somebody to optimise this process to the maximum possible chance of success?

Hassan has lots of good resources on this so I would definitely check those out, but basically you want to break your cover letter down into three sections: 1. Why the firm? 2. Why the division/role? 3. Why you? Hassan also has a good technique for structuring your paragraphs; PEAL, Point, Evidence, Analysis, Link. Make your point, then back with this up with your own personal evidence, analyse it while trying to use 3-4 data points to show impact, and then finally link this back to your main point/message. Use this format for all three sections. Correct me if any of this is wrong, but this is just what I took away from some of Hassan's advice on cover letters.

Try targeting tasks that are specifically related to investment banking. For example, write a blog on financial modelling or M&A trends, or do a course/job simulation that focuses on deep financial analysis or creating equity research reports or company profiles. Try and tailor your CV to show your interest in the things that Investment bankers do. JP Morgan job simulation on Forage or AmplifyMe M&A accelerator are good places to start as they directly tie into this kind of work
