Important Question About Essays or College Apps!!
Hey Everyone! How Are You Doing with College Apps? I hope you are doing well 😅! I would Like To know your opinion about smth about Essays: ( A Student's Question ) Let's say you are a student, an international one, living in a third-world country, not anyone, where opportunities are rare, where schools don't have clubs, don't offer APs ( In our country, we don't have hard courses, but hard sectors, for example, when you reach 10th grade, you have to choose, based on your grades, the sector you want to study in 11th grade, and after in 12th grade, so I chose the hardest one: science math ( Is it considered as a hard course in the US? ) ) or promote students to compete in competitions, don't help students get into Olympiads a lot, where students and professors, both 😅, find research smth strange and unbelievable for a high school student ( so no Labs or Profs to help you ), where national or international competitions aren't promoted and given for High school students as it is in other countries, where applying to US can be strange sometimes, where ECs opportunities aren't professional and are quite rare. According to this situation, does a student living in these limiting conditions need to state them in his essays ( some parts of course ) in a professional, maybe a great way? I don't want colleges to understand it as excuses, because I have done some things that prove I don't like excuses in my ECs 😅, but I do want them to know the reality. It is as if someone is saying: " If I were a US student, I could be a Greater nice profile and student and Do tons of great things ". Note please that I want a verified, sure, professional, exact answer to this question which seems super important to me. If you are a Harvard student or have some great connections, don't hesitate please to ask them. Thank you so much guys for help!!!! What Do you think @Rishab Jain ? Thanks in advance!

Oh my god! that is so similar to my situation in India. Personally, I am trying to figure out the same thing. If we add these things we'd be judged that we are complaining and want everyone to sympathize but on the same time it is really big part of our personality that without any resources still we are able to pull up some skills and awards! My mind is really conflicted between "To be what I really am" vs "Something colleges want me to be" like Ideally. I saw a video by Amy Wang, and she highlighted the issue really well and I am confused now!

@Astro Mari Ultimate ivy league guide is literally 8000$ and when converted in our currency it is just in Lakhs!
Question
I'm currently a sophomore in high school and I don't know what to do. I was looking forwards DECA since I'm taking the class but I competed in NHD and didnt make it to state. Also, I got an interview for an internship about marketing for a small company. Last year I got a 3.4 gpa but I want to know if its still possible for me to get into an ivy league school.

Trust me there are many better things than DECA! Also talking about GPA yes you have a chance if you manage to improve your GPA in Junior and Senior year. Application is holistic process; it means that everything combined decides your chance. You still have time, okay? apply for big selective internships by MIT and Harvard or other big schools (the application starts a year or 6 months earlier check deadline), take Olympiads focus on your recommendations. Don't go for HOSA or DECA tbh they're mid, other than that if you can grow the company that you've interviewed for, it would be really valuable for your application. Try to extend chances, go for different fellowships. The main thing is to focus on Extracurriculars, improving GPA and good SAT/ACT scores. You have a fair chance if you do so!
ACT free practice tests
Where can I find free practice tests and questions other than the official ACT website, Kaplan and ACT textbooks (Princeton review, Kaplan etc...)?

Respect, Power BANANAAA!
Big problem
I live in South America in Perú, and i would like to apply to an Ivy league in the USA but the problem is that the school system is so different. In my country AP classes don't exist, schools don't have a sports team, we don't have clubs or science fair(just one year for ninth grade). I really think my hands are tied right now.🥲

I've the same issue! I'd suggest you take online AP courses if you can, if not then focus on the reachable things because top universities do understand that not all students have access to the top-notch resources!
