Opinions
This is a relatively light topic. I would love to hear what your favorite and least favorite things are about working as a broker/carrier or logistics as a whole for those who are not in either role.

I tell people all the time this is not just a job. This is a lifestyle. It’s not a 9-5 normal. I think most of us are”addicted” to this lol. If you play your cards right it can be very profitable as well
Factoring
I’ve been in business 12 years and have never factored anything. Those that do Factor What is the biggest motivator for you? Cash Flow? Collections? Your Credit? Anything else? Is it worth the percentage you pay out and that’s not hitting your books as part of your profit?

Cashflow is the main one, but it adds up at the end of the month.

I only bought leads ones and never again. We generate our own leads. My sales guy has zoom info access and he generates his own leads.
What is your opinion on this?
My sales guy sends me a phone number to a potential client. He told me to give her a call since she has questions about the equipments we have. I didn’t do any research who that customer was and gave them a call on the spot. While the lady is talking to me and telling me about her business, the freight sounds very familiar to me. I asked her for her business name and to find out my trucks pick up loads at her location often. I asked her who is her broker and she told me xyz brokerage. I told her I am very sorry but I can not work with her since I work with that broker daily. I finished my conversation with “ I have been in this business for a while and I have built a name for myself. Unfortunately I can’t backstab the xyz brokerage since I have a great relationship with that broker” she was very happy and surprised with me. What would you guys have done if you were a carrier?

10 hour breaks
Interesting discussion over on LinkedIn where a driver posted a shot of their Qualcomm reflecting a message form their dispatcher demanding that they never take more than a 10 hour break - drive out immediately, in other words. The keyboard warrior drivers are chiming in with their Superman stories while the people who don't understand the topic are piling on with their measures of efficiency. I'm sitting back as a commercial vehicle crash investigator for both defense and plaintiff's cases shaking my head because that photo is now on the internet and will be used if that company has a crash in the near future, escalating the verdict into the nuclear zone. Thoughts?

Personally I tell my guys if you are tired pull over. Every problem has a solution, and my team is more important than a load. We don’t usually have issues with drivers arriving late, but when things happen customers understand and it has never been an issue.
