My story is very simple and I think that’s why I was so confused at why I was having a hard time getting approved on my own. I had a broken lease that I paid off ON TIME thinking that paying it off meant that it would not go on my credit… I was more than wrong. That broken lease followed me with every application that I put in (over $1,500 in application fees), that was so confusing to me because I have a really good job and make great income. That didn’t matter and eventually I started to feel like the process of denying people based off past circumstances and not current situations should be illegal. By the grace of God, I found a program that allowed me to use their credit index instead of my own, so that I wouldn’t keep hitting the same wall. I understand how serious this second chase is, so I pay my rent before it’s even due, lol! I live in a beautiful Townhome that I feel lucky to walk in everyday! I feel proud to invite people over and host dinners in my dining room! I am just so thankful! Thank you, Fresh Start!

I joined the Fresh Start Program (It was called something else at the time) over 3 years ago after couch hopping for years! I had an Eviction on my credit and could not get approved anywhere. I had never heard of any program or resources for people in my situation and truly i thought there was no hope for me.
