Do you guys have any tips for how to remain motivated on extracurriculars, especially when school gets busy or you have other commitments? I find it hard to prioritize my extracurriculars and even harder to get the motivation to begin work on them, as I don't have too much direction with them.

Hi everyone, I'm a rising 9th grader interested in science fair! I was just wondering for Science Fair, I see a lot of people making innovations or new devices with like all these fancy things (servos, motors). If this is an easier path to go, how do you come up with the idea and even get the resources to make and test such a device and actually get it to work - it seems difficult and quite challenging to engineer something. On the other hand, I see less "studies" in science fairs, where for example, someone finds a new chemical and uses it to cure a certain ailment. Another note: I see a lot of computer or coding based projects like Rishab's and wonder how they actually can be used to apply to science. Do you use data and then generate predictions or something else? Thanks anyone for helping me!

When going to science fairs and competitions, I often see people spending days making huge projects that cover the entirety of the theme's capability and some people just win with way smaller projects. I always thought that it was weird but then I found the magic. So, the trick here is that, instead of finding a project that captures the whole theme, find what the judges are working on and what kind of projects were winners before and then copy-paste bits and parts of each of those findings into your project. So, let's say I am building a car and there are 2 judges at the science fair. 1 judge works with solar panels and 1 judge works with business model canvas. So, what I do is I make it a solar-powered car and make a business model and I search up previous winners and create a poster inspired by a winner's poster that is simple. Now, even if I make a fault in the model or in showing the calculations for the solar panel, they wouldn't be upset, instead, they would be eager to showcase their expertise. And the poster? Here's a fact, the human brain was designed to love simple things, especially familiar things. Don't believe me? Give it a try and thank me later.
