My Backstory... The Day That Shaped My Career
Here is me reading "The Perfect Sales Storm". My chapter in New York Times Best Selling Author Joel Comm's book So What Do You Do. You'll hear me talk about this day often. The lessons I learned from my most successful sales call played a big role in the development of Flawless Followup. Would love to hear your thoughst.

Fantastic story Steve. Sometimes the heavens shine a light on you, me, and everyone else who has the mindset, faith, and maybe a healthy dose of motivation (i.e. Desperation) to put themselves in the path of opportunity when you had no conscious or rational reason to expect your effort to work out to your benefit. Hell, plenty of your colleagues would have turned down making the visit just because of the gasoline cost and butt fatigue!

I was immediately concerned about your start time when I saw your post, Steve. I'm participating in a ten day "Kameshti", an East Indian Spiritual process for removing obstacles in one's path. But happy days because your session starts several hours after the Kameshti ritual. So, I'll be there. :-)

@Steve Rosenbaum LOL! From your mouth to the spirit's ears.
In Memory of Dave Lakhani
Dave Lakhani was many things. Yes, he was brilliant marketer, but he was also one of the most genuine and giving people you'd ever meet. He was a big guy. Imposing stature. Bald head and usually a serious expression on his face. It would be very easy and natural to get intimidated by him... until the first time he opened his mouth and spoke with you. Then you'd instantly feel at ease as Dave always made the conversation about you. Dave had a rough childhood. He was raised in a religious cult. At 16, he ran away, left his mother behind because she wouldn't leave the cult. But Dave knew his future would not be what he wanted if he stayed. Dave made it his life's mission to understand how his mother, a very smart woman, could fall under the spell of such evil people. He studied persuasion and wrote a book: Persuasion: The Art of Getting What You Want. The book revealed several tactics for "getting what you want". But the book came with a warning to use the information responsibly. Because getting people to do what you want can be a very powerful and deadly skill. Dave poses the question: "What's the difference between persuasion and manipulation?" His answer came down to 1 simple word... "Intent". So as you watch my video today about the "7 Skool Psychological Success Secrets". I urge you to use this information responsibly. Help persuade people to take actions that will benefit them, and never manipuate people purely for your own self interests. Here is the video

I surely remember Dave. I learned about his persuasion expertise on a group call (before webinars became a thing) that was put together by persuasion legend, Kendrick Cleveland. Also on the call was persuasion best selling author and social science studies backed selling framework thought leader, Dr. Kevin Hogan. I don't recall anything specific about Dave's contribution to the call because it occurred at least seventeen years ago. However, I do recall being impressed with what Dave offered on the call. My condolences to all who knew and were close to him. Safe travels Dave.

@Thomas Chappell, as I said in own group chat today, you have some for real exceptional skills and you are an ideal fit for some business owners who very much prefer a small firm over a much larger firm who has tons of money to spend on ads, paid videos, and other forms of advertisement. They want to feel like they are the center of attention, something that they can get from a smaller firm (big fish in a smaller pond), than be just another client (fish) in a large (big pond) firm. You clearly have the skill(s). All you need is the expert guidance of someone with lots of experience getting himself and tons of clients over the years to thought leader status in your targeted market's eyes. It may not be easy, but Steve will have you going in the right direction, instead of spinning your wheels before you realize you are traveling where your ideal customers with bundles of money to spend to get their problem solved aren't. The best of Good Fortune getting there Thomas. :-)

@Thomas Chappell you are most welcome. Off the top of my head, to assist with getting you in front of the right people for your target market, consider writing "cautionary tale" articles, detailing true stories from your work with clients, citing their problem, your implemented solution and the good result realized. Offer advice on how to avoid or minimize the probability of having the problem before it becomes a problem. Educate. Don't sell. Many busy founders will want an expert to fix their problem. Once you become considered a thought leader on the subject, people will seek you out. Many will be time wasters. And a few will be viable prospects with a real problem that is right up your alley to solve and get paid handsomely for. Oh, and the article headline is of critical importance. Check out how to write powerful article headlines on YouTube for ideas that resonate with you. Good fortune to you Thomas.
