@Joel Snuggs You can do two things here Joel: just let it go and continue annoy you and everyone, or 'do something'. The 'do something' could en as simple as respond to him when it happens, e.g. when he's bragging about 'having seen and done it', ask him to share his learnings of that experience, and both mention positives and negatives. It may be shocking for him to be asked to actually go deep into something. And when you continue asking for more details, he will gently get the message that the time of telling nonsense is over... Let us know if it worked....

Now, Lise, this is a more challenging one. I'm afraid that honesty is key in your response here. Find a moment quickly after he claimed the team effort again. Get him 1-1. And just share how him claiming the effort makes you feel, which may include you losing trust in him as a colleague. Don't blame him for anything. Just share your feelings. This may be enough in recognizing the bad behavior. If not, ask him if you can suggest some ideas about how to go about things going forward. Like, praising the team. And if he truly stood out, tell him that his team members will be happy to recognize that in public also, which is much more powerful than him claiming the success.

Don't postpone. Just do it!
If there is one career killer that we all suffer at times, it's procrastination. Be honest. You'll recognize the signs: constant distractions, feeling overwhelmed, making excuses. This is how you can break free: - recognize that you are stalling; - set small, achievable goals; - create a schedule; - tackle tasks one step at a time. Remember, progress > perfection! Know what I'm saying?

Why is EQ as important as IQ
Why is EQ always coming up as a key differentiator for success? The most successful people are not the ones with just a high IQ. It's the balance with EQ that'll do the trick. I personally even dare to say that a high EQ matters more than a high IQ. Strong Emotional Intelligence helps you navigate workplace challenges, build lasting relationships, and stand out in your field. Being able to connect really well with others in many dimensions will give you access to unique knowledge and insights, to experience-based know how that are hard to take from books. How? Start by being self-aware and understanding others' perspectives. Actively listen, show empathy, be truly interested in what others got to say. And, at the same time, think about mastering your emotions. It's especially when the going gets tough, or tensions are on the rise, that you can learn most: from the situation itself, from what others got to say, and from how others behave. Invest in your emotional intelligence for a thriving career and personal growth! πŸŒŸπŸ’Ό
