10 - 1 w for Gabe on 24 shots. Big turn around from first couple of games for him and his team. Record of 1 - 2. Finn had his mite goalie game. 7 - 3 win on lots of shots!

I think over the long tournament weekend it was managing energy levels and realizing that in this format they were going to get scored on a lot even when they were doing well. Gabes worst game came when he decided to eat an entire foot long sandwich 10 minutes before game time on the second game of the day. Best game came when he had a good night sleep before the championship and fueled up early. Finn was most successful when he could tie his crazy energy to good technique. The same energy stayed strong, but he lost his technique a little as the games stacked up.

Gabe had his first game as a goalie last week, and second game this weekend. The first game was a loss 6-3. On about 30-35 shots. Had trouble with depth selection. He worked on it all week (and watched some LaCouvee videos) and played a tough local team. Lost 8-1, but on about 44 shots in 45 minutes of gametime. The first period was aggressive on depth - stopped 15 out of 16 shots. The second he seemed tired and wasn't as aggressive/sharp. Let in 6/18. Bounced back and stopped 8 of 9 in the third .

Gabe made it through his first tryouts/evaluations as a Goalie. 3 good scrimmages and hes happy with the team he is on. Finn had tryouts for a 2025 spring/fall travelling team and got the goalie spot!

To be fair Finn was the only goalie trying out, but for an 8 year old it's still a big step!
Introduction
Hello everyone, I am not a goalie myself, but signing up on behalf of my 10 year old Gabe and 8 year old Finn. Both are very new to goaltending, and Gabe in particular is a bit behind compared to others in his goalie group in North Dakota. Just looking for advice on how to help them get up to speed and have fun!
