Releasing instrumentals/beats to promote
Hey! I’m coming to the end of recording and mixing my project to be released in Feb2024. I lost my hard drive twice last year and I have some beats and song sketches that I want to maybe release just to get acclimated to social before I do my singles/album. Any rapper/producers have any luck with using “beat tapes” as promotional tools?

It’s all good. I lost everything the first time and got about 60% back from the second time. Now I’m only cloud based and back up with physical periodically

Dope! Thank you! I just secured a venue today for a EP release dance party for November. It’s called “I Lost My Hard Drive Twice In One Year” it’s 2 instrumentals and 2 songs that I put together from when I lost my card drives while making my full length project. The venue holds 120 and I think with the people I connected with to execute the idea it’s doable to reintroduce myself and before I release a full project. I have a dope content strategy to tell the story and I’m excited to see it executed for the project and the event. I think my goal should be how can I get 100 people in my area to this event and how can I use this space to get them further invested in my story. Any strategies you could suggest to get people invested with leading up to the event and solidify the investment when they come to the event?

How To Turn Your Merch Into A $1M Brand (Check this interview!)
We did an interview with Justin Phillips about how he sold over $10M in mech. Every artist should have merch and this is a clinic on how you can do the same for yourself https://youtu.be/DpohoLP_CfI

This was a great episode, I enjoyed his perspective. Ive been in 2 bands and shirts, hoodies stickers and buttons were the only way we made money getting started before a venue would pay us. We learned how to screen print ourselves and we would make more money at the merch table then we made from the fee! My cousin works at Starbucks and someone came in with one of my band shirts and we have been disbanded for 4 years. lol I am working on using some of that real world experience for my solo merch but I am new to online strategies so this was great to see

@Sean Taylor clean one color prints with your band logo or name in retail ready packaging with staging, signage, and lighting goes a long way! Again if the design is dope people wear it just because and it’s a walking taking billboard
