Best AP Prep Textbooks?
Hey there! So I'm taking 5 APs this year and I wanted to get some textbooks to help me study for unit exams and prep for the AP exams. The problem is I don't know what to choose between Princeton and Barron. I've heard people say Princeton is good for humanities and Barron is good for STEM, but I wanted to hear some more opinions. By the way, the AP classes I'm taking this year are AP Physics 1, AP US History, AP English Language and Composition, AP Statistics, and AP Computer Science A.

Potential Project???
Hi y'all, so I was reading this research paper the other day where the study looks at how a protein folds and misfolds by focusing on one section of the protein. The paper is fairly recent, it was published in June 2024. For a potential follow up study, I was wondering whether exploring how mutations in that specific area of of the protein affects the protein's cellular interactions would be a good project?

Qualifying for Research Competitions
Hey all, so I'm a rising junior, and I'm planning to get started on my research project this Fall. I've identified my field of interest to be biochemistry, or more specifically, protein folding, and how predicting its structure could pave way for drug discovery, understanding disease pathology, etc. But my question is, as a junior, if I'm just getting started, and I wanted reach ISEF or Regeneron STS, would I be too late to the game? It's just the deadlines and dates for ISEF and Regeneron are confusing because of their requirements, especially since ISEF qualification requires going through an ISEF-related fair.

@Syeda Zainab Fatima Got it, thank you! The reason I'm kind of late is that I got into research through my school's research program, but that's only available for sophomores and up. I spent last year looking for a mentor, and now that I have one, I'm finally looking to get started on a project.

@Jadon Subbu Got it! I do have a mentor so I'll be sure to run a proposal with her before I submit it.

@Finance Main Yea my main objective is to hopefully do well in some competitions and at least qualify for ISEF or Regeneron, and also possibly publish some papers under my mentor

@Shagi B My school basically has a program where they help you get mentors at universities, so I just joined the program and managed to get a mentor. I'm hoping to start an independent project soon so that she'll be able to guide me
SAT or ACT
I'm planning to take the SAT this Fall, but I was wondering, if I wanted to increase my chances of admission to Ivy schools, do I need to also take the ACT? Or is the SAT alone enough? Is there any real advantage taking BOTH the SAT and ACT?
