Hello everyone! My name is Teddy and I’m from South Africa, I’ve been watching cutting it close for almost a year as I have a laser engraving & cutting business. I have always wanted to make the jump into the CNC world and I have decided to take the leap. Hoping to learn from the pro’s and grow as a cnc user myself. Stay blessed!

Hi Teddy, It’s great to have you here! South Africa sounds like an exciting place to run your laser engraving and cutting business. Taking the leap into CNC is an amazing decision, and we’re here to support you every step of the way. To get started, I recommend checking out our classroom for valuable learning resources and modules to help you grow as a CNC user. You can access it here: CNC Startup Classroom.
🔧 CNC Pro Tip: Dial in Your Feed and Speed for Cleaner Cuts 🔧
Getting clean and precise cuts starts with understanding your feed rate and spindle speed. Adjusting these settings based on your material and bit type can make all the difference. For example, slower speeds work better for hardwoods, while softer materials may require a higher feed rate to avoid tear-outs. 🎓 Need help mastering this? We’ve got you covered! As part of our free resources dedicated to the CNC Startup community, we’ve included a Feedrate Calculator in Module 1 - CNC Fundamentals, Part 8: Chip Load & Feed Rates in our Classroom. This tool makes it easy to determine the right settings for your project and improve your cuts. 👉 Access this free lesson and calculator here: Chip Load & Feed Rates What’s your favorite tip for getting the perfect cut? Share in the comments and let’s help each other level up! 🛠️✨

I purchased a ShopBot PRT 4x8, used, about 6 years ago. Since owning it, I’ve converted it from a porter cable 3 Hp router to a 4 hp spindle. Purchased a patent for a new design for turkey box calls. I use the ShopBot extensively in its production. I wanted to say if you’re considering buying a machine look into ShopBot. American company, with AMAZING customer support. While mine is used, and probably approaching 20 years old, they offer so much support to me, if I ever buy a new model it will definitely be from them! My website is: 4PlayTurkeyCall.com if you’re interested in seeing what I build.

That's awesome! It sounds like the ShopBot PRT 4x8 has been a great tool for your work, and it's fantastic that you've already made some upgrades like the spindle conversion. The fact that you've also purchased a patent for your turkey box calls and are using the CNC for production shows how well it's working for your business. It’s great to hear such positive feedback about ShopBot’s customer support—definitely a big selling point for anyone considering a CNC purchase. I’ll be sure to check out your website, 4PlayTurkeyCall.com—excited to see your creations! 4o mini
